With My Support in Anxiety Treatment, You Can Learn to Manage and Overcome Your Anxiety
I have worked with many clients at my therapy practice who have felt the overwhelming effects of anxiety like you are now. They didn't think they could work past the traumas that were causing their anxiety. But, through anxiety therapy and with the right tools, they were able to work through their anxieties by taking small steps to lead a life that made them feel happier and more fulfilled.
Together, we can navigate the darkness & find the light at the end of the tunnel.
As an anxiety therapist specializing in both anxiety and trauma, I can help you see the connection between your past traumas and the anxiety that you're currently experiencing. Or, help you end the people-pleasing cycle that is causing you to feel anxious and stressed. With my support, you will develop skills to manage your anxiety symptoms so that you can start living your life again.
My Approach to Anxiety Treatment
As a therapist who specializes in trauma, I can tell you that experiencing trauma can lead to anxiety. The trauma can be due to a one-time event or ongoing distressing experiences, such as childhood abuse. This is why, with my support, you see the connection between your past traumas and your anxiety. This way you can develop tools to manage your symptoms while also understanding your triggers.
EMDR for Anxiety Treatment
One therapy approach I often use with my clients is EMDR (or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). EMDR therapy is specifically for people who have experienced trauma. Trauma causes the perception that your life is in danger. After trauma, your brain wants to protect you from similar trauma in the future. So, you may become anxious as you fear triggers and try to feel more in control of them.
There is Hope.
EMDR can help you process past traumatic memories. Once the memory is no longer painful, it will no longer affect you. This allows you to change the meaning that you made at the time of trauma. For example, a child being emotionally abused may try to avoid the abuse by aligning with the abuser. So, they come to see themselves as unworthy or not good enough. These beliefs continue into adulthood and form a trigger. With EMDR, the memory of the abuse is no longer painful. The child can see that they are not to blame and that they are good enough. This will change how they feel about themselves and the world around them. It can be hard reaching out for help, but together we can find a way out of this darkness.
